Dropping feeds
« on: December 04, 2012, 13:58:30 pm »
Ok - LO is 6 mo next week.  She's on three pureed meals a day now plus milk (BF) at morning, mid morning, lunch, mid afternoon and bedtime - and overnight.

I feel it should be possible to start dropping some milk feeds but how do I know?  And how do I choose which one to do?

If you want to drop one, you could probably think about the lunchtime one first of all as that would fit into a nice 4h EASY-type pattern (7, 11, 3, 7).  Until 12m, milk should be LO's main source of nutrition, so if she seems happy and content with feeds spaced that far apart, go for it.  If she's fussy and seems to still be hungry, she may not be ready to stretch out just yet.

How many NFs is she having? If more than one you may want to look at one of those next.

Thanks both.

We're pretty consistently down to one NF now so I think we're ok with that one.

I'm going to try and space her out to being four hourly on her feeds which will naturally drop one from what I'm doing now as we're still 3 hourly at the moment.  As you say, will see how she seems to go with that and if she seems happy.
