Huge range of morning wake time.
« on: December 15, 2012, 15:49:00 pm »
Hi all-
I have been sleep training for nearly a month now, DS just turned 4months old.
DS is getting MUCH better at falling asleep with little help from me.
Naps have gone from 30mins to 45-50mins, not great or where they should be but definitely better.
He is still waking 3-4 times a night, which has not improved at all since I started.
However, one of my biggest problems is that my DS will wake up in the morning for the day anywhere from 6am-8:30am. He goes to bed at 7:30 each evening so I don't know why the time he wakes in the am is such a wide range? It makes the schedule not really a schedule because I never know when he will wake, therefore never know when his naps will be for the day, feedings, etc. and that makes planning my day difficult.
Any input? THANKS!

EASY is not a schedule, but a routine, so yes, days often look different from each other.
However, you are able to know approx. how the day will turn out once you know his WU, because you know what he usually does as an A time.
The other thing is that many parents wake the baby up, just because of this reason, so that the day can be more predictable. If you like you could decide that his WU is at 7 and if he woke up at 6:30 then your day just shift half an hour. I think the reason the WU time varies so much is because there are nights he needs more sleep to catch up on lost sleep during the day.
Would you like to post your day in an EASY format and we can have a look if he needs a tweaking so that the naps are longer?
