Time on breast
« on: December 21, 2012, 15:53:50 pm »
Hi,
I'm just reading secrets of a baby whisperer and am slightly concerned at the length of time my LO ( 9 weeks) feeds for. In the book I noticed it said to feed up to 40 mins for a baby over 4 weeks, however my little on never has longer than 15 mins at a feed. She feeds every 3 hrs on the dot and is gaining 8oz a week. Tracy also talks about hind milk only being reached after 15 mins. Am I okay to assume my LO is just an efficient eater and she is getting enough hind milk. I know my milk flows quickly too as she often splutters at the breast.

Knowledge of BFing has moved on since  the books were written and we would like to think that Tracy would have amended certain sections had she still been with us.

My two were both down to 6-8mins by 8wo. I'm sure your LO is getting enough if she is growing well and there are no issues with poops. If she is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies etc. then I'm sure all is fine.

Yes, plenty of wet diapers and poops. Thanks for the reply.
