feeding times/amounts?
« on: December 22, 2012, 20:36:10 pm »
can anyone advise on if i need to change around my feeding times?

here's our usual day....basically, im wondering if i need to offer some sort of food before the AM nap? also wondering if i'm giving her too much food!!!

7am wake up & bottle (6oz)
8am 2tblsp cereal, 2oz milk, 2oz fruit
11.45 nap

1.45 lunch: 1 tblsp pasta/rice, 1 oz meat dish, 2 oz veg, 1 fromage frais
3.15pm: bottle 3-6oz

5.30pm nap
6pm dinner 1 tblsp pasta/rice, 1 oz meat dish, 1oz fruit & 1oz natural yoghurt

8pm bottle 8oz

writing that down, it seems like a WHOLE lotta food!!!!too much????should i move something to before her AM nap?

It looks fine to me! If she's sleeping for 2 hours then she's not hungry - you could offer a small snack but it doesn't look like she needs it really! Quantity wise I don't think she eating a huge amount, is she having finger foods and self feeding?

Is she eating all that you are giving her? How old is she now - 11 months? If so you can increase solids as much as you like really, around 1 most babies drop down to 2 bottles, they should be taking more food than milk by then. From 1 they onlu need about 14oz of dairy to get their needs met and that doesn't have to be liquid milk - yoghurt, cheese etc count too.

ya,she has finger foods but she doesn't feed herself properly from teh spoon yet-it's kind of hit & miss!!!
most of the time, she eats everything, unless it's something she's not mad about!
she 11 months since the 16th...(i really must change my lilypie to months!!!)
would you leave her with the afternoon bottle until she's 1YO so?

We changed the afternoon bottle to a sippy of milk with lunch or as a snack after her nap. My DD went straight to 1 nap at 12 months so our routine was a bit different as she had an early lunch before her nap or a late lunch if she slept too early!

When she was about 13 months she started refusing breakfast so we stopped the first bottle of milk and that became a sippy of milk with toast mid morning.

It took a while before she took the full cup. It doesn't matter though - if she has a 6oz bottle in the morning and an 8oz bottle at bedtime that's plenty of milk, that covers what she needs and anything else is a bonus. Actually, less milk is better really as it's quite filling and isn't a food after 12 months so you don't want them drinking too much!
