Not crying but screaming!

So LO is 4mo old and wakes mid nap sometimes she will chat to herself sometimes she will shriek and then fall back asleep. She's on a 4hr easy   My question is this when she starts to cry(real cry) I go in and try shh/patt and then pu/pd
 
    today she started her real cry I went in and she started to angry scream. This is not unusual so I pu and pd she was quiet I left the room and I hear the angry scream again, this time I fin getting a glass of water which took all of 1min and by the time I headed back to her room she was mantraing.
 
   So next time she screams should I wait? Isn't that CIO? I have never worked with a a baby before that screams like Lexi does .  She's not in pain or that upset bc it doesn't lat very long. Any ideas??

Is she spirited?  Maybe that's just part of the noise she makes before she starts to mantra? You can hold back and listen a bit, but I don't think I'd wait for a minute to see if it turns into mantraing.  If she's an independent sleeper to begin with, I'd rather err on the side of going in. 

I guess when I've settled mid-nap, I've always stayed until LO is back asleep either with a hand on them or just stepped back.  That might prevent some of the confusion as well.

My LO is spirited and often lets out a very loud, angry cry and then moves to a mantra cry or babbling to herself or just dropping right back to sleep.  I usually wait a minute or two before I go in (or I go in but don't intervene) to see if the cry changes or if she'll stop.

Well she s definitely a spirited girl!! I decided to go in and see what she does when she's screaming.  I looked in from behind the crib so she couldn't see me and she balls up her fists and smacks it on the mattress  then lets out this ear piercing screaching noise. I waited a min and she dropped off to sleep again could she be dreaming? During her A time she makes this parrot like screeching noise lol and the screech at nap time isn't far off from it. She makes the noise while she's happy too it's just very disconcerting.

Wow, I don't know if she could be dreaming, I didn't think they developed that type of sleep by this age.   I guess if it's a normal noise for her and she's not crying for help, then it's probably best to leave it, esp as you now know what happens when she does it.  I'd still err on the side of going in if it goes on for a bit, so you can be there for her if needed, but it sounds like you've got a good handle on it.

Well I left her today and she did 2-2hr naps yay!! Thank you for all input it's much appreciated. Crossing my fingers that this will become a pattern!
