Hi

Could her awake time be less for her first morning nap than the other naps during the day?

Also, if she is fussy at 1hr45 do I just skip the rocking and go straight to crib with no wind down?

Finally, do to her erratic nap schedule I found myself a couple of times yesterday in situations where she was due for a nap but her feed was right around the same time.  Should I feed her and keep her awake slightly longer or try to get her down and feed later?

Thanks so much!

Yes it's pretty common for the first A time of the day to be a bit shorter than the others

As long as you keep the other parts of your wind-down ie change nappy, close blinds, swaddle etc, that's fine.

I think you have to follow your instincts. If nap and feed are due at the same time, feed a bit early so she can be awake for a few minutes before going down for her nap.

I guess my question is- if she is too fussy to do whole wind down is she overtired?  Do I want to start wind down 5 mins early so she is not fussy even if it means she goes down before 1 hr 45?  Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much if she's a bit fussy unless she starts giving you overtired (30mins) naps.

The lady nap she was awake 1 hr 56 mins.  The good news was that she put herself to sleep injustice a couple of minutes.  The bad news is that she only slept 29 minutes?  Am I to assume I should decrease her awake to prob 1 hr 45 or so?  The next nap then she was falling asleep nursing so she went down after about 1 hr35.  I was going to keep her up to 1 hr45 but since she was falling asleep and I also thought she might be more tired since the last nap was under 30 mins.

Thanks so much!!!

Hi

I wanted to give an update.  Our daughter has pretty much put herself to sleep for every nap and night sleep for the past couple of days!  Increasing the activity definitely worked-thanks so much.  The only issue is that although she puts herself to sleep in a couple of minutes she is only taking less than 35 minute naps.  She is 16 weeks on this coming Tuesday (but was born a week early) so we have been putting her in the crib at around 1hr45.  Her first nap of the day is 1 hr 30/35 mins.  Do we need to keep her up longer or put her down a tad bit earlier?  Why is she only napping around 30 minutes?  The last couple of days we have been able to extend the 1st nap but not the others.  Thanks so much for your help!
