Growth spurt? Reverse cycling? Something else?
« on: February 14, 2013, 11:20:36 am »
Lo is 3 months today. Since a few weeks old he was doing an 11-12 hour night with 1 or 2 feeds, and right back to sleep. for the past few days, he has been waking a lot more at night. Times are fairly erratic, although first wakeup is always in the 11o clock hour. I have been nursing him at every wakeup, after trying to re-settle a few times with Paci. He acts hungry, and does take in a good amount when I nurse. sounds like a growth spurt, except he is not really eating more during the day. Do some lo only add feeds at night in a growth spurt?

We have major prop issues for naps, but for bedtime, he goes to sleep on his own with a Paci. I have recently upped his A time and it seems like we are going from 5-4 naps. I  hoping to start working on independent sleep for naps, but don't want to do it during a growth spurt. I don't mind feedin him at night if it's a growth spurt, but I'm nervous he may jus be reverse cycling. I'm gonna post this on the nw board as well to get more eyes on it-he is ebf

It sounds like a growth spurt.  There is one around 3m.  LOs are pretty clever and know that the best time to stimulate supply is at night, so that would most likely explain the NWs.

You mention reverse cycling - have you gone back to work recently or spent increased time away from LO?  That's usually when RC occurs so that they spend the time feeding during the night that they have missed out on during the day.

Yeah I don't think it's reverse cycling cause we are together all the time! Just wasn't sure if that could happen even without separation. I hope it is a growth spurt and will pass soon!
