Dropping dreamfeed
« on: February 16, 2013, 21:54:37 pm »
My dd will be 8 mo next week and I'm slowly trying to drop the dreamfeed. I undersand the theory behind it, but I don't know how to do it for the breastfed baby. I have been always expressing milk for that last feed of the day - otherwise she was just sleeping. So I know how much she was drinking. Now I'm giving her her bottle earlier and make it a bit smaller. But how do I make sure she picks up the lost calories during the day?

Have you read the FAQ on dropping the DF? "How do I implement/drop the dreamfeed?"

You can only offer the extra milk at each feed and she can take it or leave it. With FF it is there in the bottle, with B it is there in the breast. If you do it gradually then she should just be slightly hungrier at that following morning feed and take more, that will stimulate your body to take more for the next day and so on. HTH.
