Help sorting out naps for 10.5 month old ? Plz
« on: February 23, 2013, 00:04:24 am »
I'm new to BW and love the support everyone offers!!  :)

Just wondering if I could get some input while I try and fihure out A time for my 10.5 month old DD?

I just started pushing her A time as someone suggested on a different thread and she already napped better in just the first day.  She has never STTN due to medical devices but all has been good for over a month  ;D (No more breathing alarms!!) I thought her frequent NWs were from those issues but now think her EASY (which I just started about 6 weeks ago) needs some tweaking before I try any sort of training.

So today she woke at 7:45
A time of 3h45 which is more than usual
Napped from 11:30 to 12:25  (55mins, is this UT?)
A time of 3h40 also more than usual
Napped from 4:15 to 5:25  (1h05, is this UT too?)

Now I don't know what to do about BT lol without making it too late.......I don't really care if she is up until 9:30 but it seems a bit late.

I'm also a little confused as to where to go next?  Should I keep her naps the same for a few days and see what happens or get her up a bit earlier tomorrow and push her A again?

Thank u!!!

Hi there,
Sounds like you might be hitting the 2:1 transition to me. Fitting in 2 long naps is going to be hard as her A times are getting longer and what tends to happen is that neither nap is that restorative so it is easy for lo to get OT.
I think at this point I would cap one of the naps at 45 mins and then hope for a longer nap i.e. 1.5 hours for the other. I favour the short am, long pm nap approach but you can also do the opposite, whatever works best for you and lo really. If you are doing short am/long pm this is a rough idea of how it might look.
A - 7.30am
Nap - 11-11.45am
Nap - 2.45 - 4.15pm
BT - 8pm

what do you think?

So today has gone like this so far lol

Up at 7:30
Nap from 11 to 11:45
Nap from 2:50 to 3:33 (42mins)  I was able to get her back to sleep but only for 5 mins

so I'm guessing that 8pm ill be too late for BT now?

Should I do EBT or let her doze for 15 mins?

Babies are lovely but confusing little beings sometimes lol  :)

Thanks for your help!

sorry, just seen this. How did it go? I would have brought BT earlier rather than allowing another nap...probably to about 6.30pm.
She may be able to handle more A after the 45 min nap, it will take a bit of playing with A times. I know mine were always quite refreshed after a 45 min nap. Maybe push to 3.15  A tomorrow?

Don't be sorry  :)

So we tried EBT and she was having none of it lol then was up until 8:30 and OT as she woke 30 mins later and then nearly every hour after that yikes!  I also noticed another tooth working its way through so that could be part of it too.......it seems like she needs a short A before her first nap and then can handle a fairly long A after.......do you think it would be better to have her longer nap in the am or push her to 3h15 like u mentioned?

Today was a bit crazy because she went to my Mums for the day lol. She napped for 1 h10 this am and then had 4h30 A after :o  then napped 1h10 and 3h30 until bed so am curious to see how it goes.

I'm just gonna have to stay with her at home until we figure this out haha......no offence to my Mum  :)

teeth def cause issues so it is quite possible.

either could work really....I used to do short am as it worked better with my nap fighting DS and with DD t fitted around the school run a bit but you could always go for a longer am nap and shorter pm.

What would you suggest if I do the short pm nap instead?

The am one has always been her good nap and now for the first time ever without waking somewhere in the middle of a nap she has been sleeping almost exactly 1h30 for that morning one so I would rather not mess with it  :)

She has been doing an A of 4h to get the 1h30 in the morning but I'm still not certain what to do with her other A times.....

So I think I am gonig to try:

Wake at 7:30
Nap 11:30 to 1
Nap 4:30 to 5:15
BT 8:15

Does this make sense? LOL
