First no nap day
« on: March 04, 2013, 18:41:32 pm »
alyssa has been on this routine for a while.
wake 7am
nap1-2:30
bed 8pm

Bedtime has been creeping later and she has been napping later. She has been falling asleep for nap around 1:30pm and when I wake her she is a mess.
Today, she said she didn't want to nap. She was calling for me and when I went to her she said she wanted to go downstairs and that she didn't want to nap. She doesn't want to cuddle with me or lay on the sofa.

I really don't want to go down this 1-0 again. I brought her down and am not sure what bt should be now. do I do a 11.5hour day?
If she falls asleep around 2pm, how long do I let her nap for?

I just posted the same thing as it looks like we are heading into the no napping!

I have no advice because I am clueless of what to do.

Just thought I would let you know you are in good company....here to hold your hand!

I'd let her nap until 3, and keep normal bedtime.

How did the rest of the day go?

Maybe you need a bit of routine adjustment before going 1-0? What about moving the nap half an hour later, 1.30-3? Is she tired at 8 for bt with such timings?
I agree with pps for today.

I think you are right about moving nap later b/c at bt she was a mess. I mean, tantrum after tantrum.  She was crying and yawning at the same time. She instantly fell asleep at 6:45pm.

I am going to try a 1:30pm nap tomorrow. I know she still needs it.  do you think a 5 hour A to bed is enough?

I will keep you posted on how it goes tomorrow.

Hi sabs. Z does ok with a nap at 2-3.30 (sometimes it's closer to 1.30-3) but still goes down ok at 7.30. She may surprise you and a later nap give you same BT ???

We did a no nap day on sat (planned) and Z was done at 5 so we did 10.5 hr day and he slept 13.5 hrs :o food for thought ;)

I did a 1:30pm nap today and hubby woke her close to 3pm. In bed at 8pm.

She did have a 12hr and 15min night.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi....I am in the same boat. I never move BT with mine because then the next day he is back on track but he seems fine on the odd day he doesn't nap and has same BT no problem.
Mine is a bear to wake on naps lately also and seems to be cutting night sleep and keeping naps length. I hate waking him, but seems like that is what needs to happen.
I don't know if I will be glad to be done naps so we can do more, or sad because then there is no down time for momma.....bit of both I think!

I'm there too hun!

My kid just pulled 6 days with no nap.. same issues you listed.. allowed a nap today as it is starting to catch up to her.. bad plan.  I think we are just done with naps for the most part.

Will Alyssa tack on at night?

I think the most she would do at night is 12 hours-rare 12.5 hours.

Today was a little mess. We were out all morning and running behind with errands. Got home at 1pm(didn't nap in the car and was fussing b/c she was tired.  Did a quick wd and of course she began to refuse nap. She finally fell asleep at 1:40pm and am not sure what time to wake her.

LOL!  I would keep offering a nap but maybe not until closer to 2pm... allow 90 mins max though!

Agree with sara. We are doing this too. O is napping approx 1.30/2-4pm & bedtime at 8. The later nap has no bearing on bt, he still goes down fine. If he sleeps in past 8am we do no nap & bt at 6.30-7pm. We're doing approx 2-4 no nap days followed by 2 nap days, but nap days are getting more & more difficult & its often gone 2pm before he's asleep now.x
