Help me build a good EASY
« on: March 07, 2013, 10:50:22 am »
I need serious help.

My baby girl is 11 months old and im struggling with a schedule that works.
She has never slept thru the night. Has many NW, usually at 23.00 then 3:00 then every hour after that till its WU time at 6.30/700. I have gone back to work and BF 3 times a day. LO usually wants to feed every 4 hrs. She has 3 full meals and one snack currently.
Current routine is as follows:

6.30WU
745 BF
900 breakfast cereal water /cheerios
1000 Nap wakes after 50 min and i put her back to sleep
        (Does 1hr 15 total)
1115 WU
1145 snack fruit/ toast
1400 lunch chicken veggies
1500 Nap ( fights this one sometimes but eventually sleeps
for 30 min.. I dont resettle thinking itll effect BT)
1530 WU
1600 BF
1800 dinner (night time cereal and yogurt)
1845 bath
1930-2000 bedtime

She must be transitioning to one nap. I think i want to work on a good AM rather than PM nap.
But do u think a good PM nap would mean less NW? The NW done happen in the early night..
Only after 23.00. Think maybe its more hunger than OT.
Please tweak this schedule for me.. I think shes ready for 4 hr A time. How do i fit it all in a 12 hr day?

I have looked at sample EASYs.. But no luck.. Help! Please! Im soo tired..

Yes, I agree, she is ready for more A time and the problems you are experiencing now are probably due to UT.
You can increase her A time gradually, by 10-15min every 3-4 days till you are at 4h or getting better naps.
If you prefer a long AM nap then your day can look like this:
6:30 WU
10:30 Nap
12-12:30 WU
16:00 PM nap for 30-45min
19-19:30 BT

Now, this is just an example. We also did a long AM nap and this was our routine when DS was 11m. But every baby is different, she might need her PM nap earlier and have a full A before BT, it's just something you'd need to try out. What do you think?

Thanks so much for replying!

Yes, that looks like a good routine! Im wondering though, at 11 months
when do LOs need their next feed/ meal?.. Is it every 4 hrs? I think this is also
something that I worry over. If she sleeps at 16 for second nap.. Then i guess i
feed her before the nap.. Right?

I struggle with EASYs when nap times come in between meal times.
I think maybe LO wakes up from nap too cuz shes ready to eat? I dont know..
Any suggestions there?

Thank u again :)

You said that you are BF 3 times a day, right? Are you also giving a bottle?
How are solids going?
What you could do is do a feeding at WY, then after the second nap and then at BT (and if you also give a bottle then a good time for it would be before the second nap. Then you can offer solids before the first nap, maybe 45min before, so she is not going down hungry.

I BF just like u said.. One after WU, then after second nap then at bedtime.  Solids are going ok.. Not so great.. But not too bad either..

Im gonna try extending A to 4 hrs first. See how that goes..

One more question, sorry. If her 1st nap is 1hr 20 ( while I adjust to 4 hr A) should i let her have a 1 hr second nap? Or should i cap it at 30 to 45 min?

No, no, I didn't mean to amply anything with the bottles, it's great that you are still BF! When she is 1yo you could start with milk.

TBH, a 1:20h nap is almost a full one, I wouldn't let her sleep a full one in the PM too because that will still from her night sleep. I would cap it at 45min if it was me.
