OK, deep breath. I knew this  was coming ::)

Ivy is spirited/touchy and rather OT sensitive and is 1 year old in a week  :o She refused her 2nd nap ( her short one) today for the first time today and I would up taking her for a little drive on a gravel road and got her a 38 minute  nap. ( ONe perk of being in the country, gravel roads are so soothing to OT tots ;D)

Here is what we have been doing...our days seldom begin at the same time but the past 2 nights we have had 13 hour nights with only 1 NW!!!!
A: 4hr15
S:1hr20-1hr40, (typically 1hr20, she has only napped longer than 1hr30 a handful of times in the past several months)
A 3hr30 (if nap is longer I do 3hr45, I suspect this could be pushed, OT is really not pretty on her but, as I found out today, neither is nap refusal)
S 35 minutes I wake at this point if she isn't already up
A 2.5 hour

She still has a NF, it doesn't bother me, we will deal with it....eventually!

I am well aware this could have been a one-off but I also know that 2-1 is out there, it is coming, and I should be ready!!

So in my quest to try to keep her out of the OT ditch do I need to push somewhere, I am reluctant to being cutting and rearranging sleep too much with her as changes really seem to throw her for a loop, but we will do what we need to do. Any thoughts Mamas? Thanks for looking!

Hey Hun.

Your def in the 2-1 already!

My spirited touchy boy did well with a long am too and a pm CN if the am was short ;)
I would first try pushing out the am nap a touch maybe to 4.5 and really try to get her down for over 1.5 hrs. I used to try to APOP or resettle if the nap was less than this to encourage 1 long nap. If you can't resettle, then try a CN 4-4hrs15 after the nap for 20-30 mins and BT 2-2.5 hrs later. If the CN is refused (mine was always in the car ::) ) then EBT of 6pm.

If she does 13 hr nights it sounds like she tacks on nicely :)

Thank you Sara!

Plan for tomorrow... pending horrid, awful night with not much sleep, ( so far she is doing fine)
A. 4.5HR
S try for 1.5 hours, will resettle if under 1hr10, anything over and it is just futile.
A 4 hr, may have to be very hands-on the last bits but we will persevere.
S 30 minutes
A 2.5 hours, less if going all crumbly.

ALways helps to have a new plan, and good to know there are other Mamas out there with Touchy-Spiriteds that survived all these transitions!!  ;D Thanks..

That sounds good Hun, and play with it a little. What works for one doesn't work for others but I do think pushing the first A will help you get that longer lunchtime nap, and go for EBT if you can't get the CN.

I made rules for myself so I didn't go mad. For Z it was
Nap no earlier than 10.30 even if EW. Not out of room/cot till 6 no matter what. ( there were some bf in there I won't lie!)
If nap over 2.5 hrs or after 1pm I went for the EBT of 6 (Z did tack on well ad EBT worked well)
If nap over before 1 then CN 4-4.5 hrs later in car. 20-30 mins adm BT 2 later.

He did super long naps though -3 hrs! And i could resettle a lot of them if short. But never would do a long pm so this worked well for us.

Good luck Hun! Xx

I can't believe this. She has been out for 2 hours, and it is nearly 1:00. She got up at 6:23 (early morning poop) so only a 10hr10 minute night. Do I dare soldier on to a 6pm BT? Otherwise it will end up being a 13.5 hour day....what would you do? In the past long days have not been kind to her. She has never intentionally done a 1 nap day. Hmmm.

Meant to say nap ended up being 2hr15 minutes. It seems like the better thing to do would be 6:00 BT. Thoughts?

Would do EBT, but that's because they worked for Z :-\ go with your gut. I guess it can't hurt to try YK? ;)

Doing EBT, she has tacked on well in the past, and longer days have not always gone well. Have to start somewhere! Thanks!

Same!

I could hardly believe it. Was in the garden and kept looking at the monitor!

Out at 5:55, woke at 6:55. Then 20 minutes after that and has been up and down and not been asleep for an hour. Well, we have had awful nights before, we will get through and are new to this 2-1 nonsense. I think with DS we jumped to one nap early in the game and he was mellow enough to muddle through. Anyone got any spare vibes for my girl? She is screaming bloody murder now. ...

3 hours to get back to sleep. If anyone is awake and has BW vibes, send them here please!!! Asleep now, hoping to grab a minute or two of sleep....Sorry for all the posting, this long NW stuff is sort of traumatic for me, she did this a lot when she was little. OK, deep breaths:)

Ugh, I'm sorry she did that! :(
I guess it means she really isn't ready for 1 nap then, at least a long A to BT.
So you may need to do a later CN so she will take it, and cap it short like 20/30 mins. Then BT 2 hrs later?

Anna what do you think?

How did the rest of the night go? What do long NWs usually mean for her, 3hrs is a LONG time for 'just' OT - with mine when they're OT it's lots of NWs but they go back to sleep reasonably quickly (like, within half an hour or an hour at most). Maybe BT wasn't quite early enough?...
