BF baby - which milk feeds drop first?
« on: April 19, 2013, 15:35:53 pm »
Hi there  :D this is my first post to this forum, hope you can help!

DD is almost 7 months and is starting to up the amount of solids she takes which is good. I think she may be trying to drop the late evening feed. When she still wakes up for it she generally will feed: 7:30pm,10:30pm,3am,7am. I don't mind that so much as it's only one night feed
However if she sleeps through the late feed it goes like this: 7:30pm,1am,5am and then she awake for the day unless I bring her into bed with us! Two night feeds is not making me function!

Do I dream feed her for the late night feed or keep letting her sleep through it in the hope she'll lengthen the gap a bit more?!

Which feeds did your LO drop and when?

We never did dream feed here.  DD dropped her one night feed at 7 months, afternoon feed at 10 months then weaned off remaining three feeds between 11 months and the day after her first birthday.  Mid morning one was first of those to go, BT one second and morning one last.

Hun, if trying a DF means she doesn't EW and not resettle then I would give it a go, the NF should still continue to get later in the night YK? Or you could do the DF, then wean the NF if you think it's not needed.

My first never had a DF and woke at 4 for 1 NF. It's really about your preference but IIWM I'd give the DF a shot and see how the nights pan out for 3-5 days. :)

Our feeds for Z were dropped a follows
NF 7/8 mths
Mid arvo 9 mths (feeds were WU, lunchtime before pm nap, BT)
Breakfast 11/12 mths (switched to bottle before nap (lunch) and bf at BT)
Lunch 14/15 mths
BT 18 but we switched to a bottle as I was pregnant)

Yes I would try a DF as presumably you can do that and then get a better stretch once you go to bed. And then the 2nd NF can get later.
