Best present (toy) for first birthday?
« on: May 12, 2013, 19:30:49 pm »
That's it in a nutshell.

For DS we got a wheelie bug (tiger since he was born in the year of the tiger).  But since we already have one in the house, I think maybe not another one.

She's just started crawling though it's looking like she will make a quick transition to standing and maybe walking.  Eeek.

We don't have battery-operated toys in the house.  She loves putting things in boxes.

Any suggestions??

Sand / water table was DS's first bday gift and still going strong 6 years later.

Building blocks of some description are so great, mine still play with them now, I think they have the most longevity out of any of the (billions) of toys we have in our house!!

I had considered a sandpit/paddling pool thingy but this would be even better as would be useable in winter too.  And DS has just got a trainset so they could each have their activity table thing.  Any particular brand you'd recommend?

That pop up toy is super cute, Claire, thanks. I think she'd love it!

Sand/water table huge hit here too. Blocks and duplo also worth their weight in gold ;)

We have the Little Tykes.  This thing has been used, winter, spring, summer and autumn and left outside and still looks fab.  I have lots of posts and pics of my ds with it on here, but have to run for Mother's day dinner or I would locate the links. :D   When he was 1 it was great as he could stand at it and it was another activity for early walkers or almost walking little ones to keep busy. Best $100 I ever spent.  For his 2bd bday we got him a play kitchen and that is still going strong.  So 2nd best gift lol!
