I need help with an OT mess again!
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:40:05 am »
The last few days we have had an INSANE heat wave (37C) and we have no AC here so it has been like a sauna in our apartment! Anyways, Liam has been having a real hard time sleeping in this weather. Adding that to the fact that he was a bit OT already with the switch to one nap and teething again (can't see anything but his hands are shoved down his throat constantly!) I have an OT MESS on my hands!

The weather has cooled down and we can now sleep again, although the teething is ongoing, but I can't get any nap longer than 1.5hrs, many are actually 1hr15-20. I don't know what do... I have let go of the set nap idea at the moment as I just want to get him on track but I can't figure out A times. All naps are too short and he won't resettle! He wakes crying hysterically! Most nights he sleeps through with a shout out here or there, he mostly sleeps 11hrs, although I am pretty sure that is OT for him since he is tired again an hour later... I don't know what to do... Today WU was 5am, I tried going by cues this time but that is very hard considering his whiney and rubbing his eyes all the time. I ended up putting him down after 4hrs, at 9, which I know is super early but he was having a meltdown, he woke after 1hr15. Before this mess he could probably do 4hr30-45 of A time...

Help me please! What to do to get back on track? The poor guy is exhausted with dark circles under his eyes!

Ugh that stinks. Is there anyway you can get a small A/C unit just for his room to run during naps/ BT? (probably not as I'm sure you would have done it already). Only thing I can think of is doing a catch up nap early in the morning and ether SEBT as you advised me :) or a 2 nap day to try and help him catch up.

The weather has cooled down now, at least to a temp that he can sleep with. Now i just need to figure out how to get back on track! Our naps are short i think because of teeth and actually i think he may have had a jump in A times and i didnt realize it... I guess ill try a longer one tomorrow...

^^ THIS ALWAYS happens to me. takes me forever to realize it. He's doing really well today I think we're having a catch up night and day. He went to sleep after 5.25hrs and is still sleeping 2.5hrs later. Which is super helpful given we have the party tonight and I would have to put him to bed a bit later. Hope it doesn't put us in a bad spot.

Glad the weather has cooled down. FX for a good nap/night.
