Erratic Night Wakings Even Though Puts Self to Sleep???
« on: August 19, 2013, 21:19:54 pm »
Hi!  Our LO is ALL OVER the place.  He's 4 months old - but this has been going on now for about 8 weeks.  We've followed BW since he was 3 weeks old. HAve a consistent bed time routine (since 3 weeks also) and put him down at 7:30 pm.  We put him down drowsy but awake and he puts himself to sleep.  Sometimes he uses a paci but usually he just talks and babbles and nods off within 15 mins.  Same with majority of his naps.  He's in his own crib with blackout blinds and white noise.  We ditched the swaddle a week ago because he's rolling over and can get out, but got the MAgic Sleepsuit and it seems great.

His routine is fairly consistent.  Eats 4 - 5 oz every three hours, sometimes he will top up before a nap - but RARELY falls asleep eating.  And we do a dreamfeed.

Thursday night - woke up once (bed 7:30 DF 9 - woke at 2:30 ate 2 oz - back to sleep until 7 am)
Friday - SLEPT TEN HOURS solid  (bed 7:45 DF 9:30 - woke at 5:30 ate 2 oz - back to sleep until 7:15 am)
Saturday - Woke 3 times (bed 7:15 DF 9 - woke 11, 2, & 5 and ate 2 oz every wake because my hubby is a doofus)
Sunday - Bed at 7:00 woke SEVEN TIMES (11, 12, 12:45, 1, 2, 2:30, 5 - fed at 2 and 5 2 oz)

Our routine is usually a lot like this:

7 - E and A
8:30 - S
9:15 - A
10 - E
10:45 - S
11:30 - A
1 - E
1:30 - S
3:00 - A
4 - E
4:45 - CATNAP
5:15 - A
6:45 Bedtime routine
7:00 E
7:30 S

What are we doing wrong?

I wonder if he might need to be transitioned to 4hr EASY as erratic night wakings can also be as a result of being on a wrong age appropriate routine. I've attached some links for you to have a look at... most 4mo's can start to be transitioned to 4hr EASY, with awake times around 2 hrs

Time to Transition - 3hr, 3.5hr or 4hr EASY
3-4hr EASY Transition – In 5 Minute Increments

let me know what you think
