Re: 6 week old sleeping issues

I'm having a similar issue only my LO is just turning 6 weeks old. I'm a first time Mom.. She is BF and I try to get her on EASY or at least ES and have had no luck. She was 7 pounds 4 oz at birth and 6-8 when we brought her home. We had to wake every 3 hr to feed and supplement with formula the first week as I didn't produce enough at the time.  My milk is plentiful but I dint have over supply. Since then she is 8-4. She was super gassy at first but that seems to have simmered down this last week. She sleeps more like a toddler and less like infant during the day with two 2 or 3 hour naps (lately only when someone holds her) Her nightly sleep patterns dint exist and when I try and put her down at night shes up every hour if she makes it that long. Last two nights I just slept while holding her in the chair as a last resort at 330 am after fighting all night. She rarely takes a passi from me as tends to use me as one and makes her scream louder if we try and "push" it when already crying. She wont stay in a swing for more than 15 min but will fall asleep in her car seat but only in the car.  She's been swaddled during sleep times since birth. As a guess I'd say she sleeps maybe 10 hours a day and that's a Big Maybe. All her DR can say is infants can be hard at that age and it's too early to sleep train and she might have a touch of colic oh and try the 5 Ss (swaddle, suck, sush, sway right Side) Please help this totally sleep deprived mama

Hi hon,
(((Hugs))), that sounds so tiring.  Just like the other thread you posted on, I wonder if your LO is in some discomfort.  I'm sorry your doctor has not been much help.  Did he or you mention reflux or any intolerances at all?  Does she have an reflux symptoms? Reflux 101 - General reflux information. When you hold her in the chair at night, does she then sleep better?  When she falls asleep in her carseat, does she then continue to sleep if you take it out of the car and put it in the house?

I'm sure every day is different right now, but can you give me an example of what a day looks like?  E.g. when she is awake, when she eats, and when she sleeps?  I'm wondering if she's sleeping those really long stretches, she may not be getting enough feeds in during the day and that could be a factor in her night waking.  Although, it does sound a bit more complicated than that. :-\

Something like this...
W/E 7am
A
S 9-11am
E 11am
A
S etc etc
