Help- 4 month OLD screams when going for naps.
« on: September 06, 2013, 01:46:07 am »
Hi All- I am looking for advice for getting my LO down for naps. At nighttime, she goes to bed like a dream- bath or wash up, pjs, bottle, lullabies, kisses, and bed awake and puts herself to sleep.

However, naps are hit and miss. Sometimes she goes down ok, and will have a spell where she doesn't go down very well, but she'll get back into going down on her own easily. In the past, I have been able to shh/pat or PUPD and it has worked. However, the past few days she has started screaming and crying and nothing seems to work and she makes herself more and more upset. She is 4 1/2 months and her schedule is:

E-7:15
A
S- 9:00/9:30
E-11:00
A
S- 1:30
E- 3:00
A
S-7:00

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think she is OT hun.  At 4.5 months she more than likely still needs 3 naps (2 long ones and a catnap), and A time of around 2hrs.  The morning A time and sleep look ok, but you might want to pull the second A back a little, and I would think she would need another nap before bedtime too. 4hrs before bed is a loooooong time for such a young baby.  Would you try something like this:

E: 7:15
S: 9-10:30/11
E: 11
S: 1-2:30
E: 3
S: 4:30-5:15
E: before bed
S: 7

What do you think?
