Birthday for my two year old!
« on: September 21, 2013, 07:49:59 am »
My precious baby is going to be TWO in one month!

What should we give her? Some options...

Some Playmobil - either the park set or some zoo bits. She plays with little people in a way Stan never really did.
A few things for her 'baby' if I can find stuff better than I could make.
Happyland? I sort of feel 'why' to the Happyland and why not go for Playmobil yk? She doesn't really put stuff in her mouth.
She has a few playfood/tea set bits. We have a toy kitchen in the attic so will probably bring that down. Either for 2nd birthday or for Christmas.
We have Stan's balance bike in the attic too, I know she would love it but it probably needs to wait another six months.

Would she like a scooter? We gave x e's old mini micro for Christmas (when he was about 19 months) with the little seat and o bar and he loves it and has used it loads. We have ditched the seat now, but he scoots to school most afternoons which I don't think he would have been able to do at this age if he hadn't had the seat first. It is a bit pricey if you don't have the scooter already, but I reckon that x will be using it most days until he is in reception so it is good value.

I'd say if she's good with little bits to go for the playmobil. C outgrew the happy land sets quickly but still plays with the figures just not the other bits. Mil has a really old retro hospital playmobil set (normal age range one) and C has played with that since she was 2 under supervision as she's v dexterous and not really one for putting things in her mouth.

There is a lovely le toy van playground and garden set that C got last Christmas at 2 and she still plays with that  loads

C also got a scooter last Christmas too.

Go for the Playmobil. Emma got her first Playmobil advent calender at just under 2 and its still going strong at almost 5 along with all the other bits. And yes, she plays with it in a way that Oscar never did!

How did she get so big?? If she plays with it, playmobil is a good buy. I think it sells on well too?

Royal baby play set? http://www.mothercare.com/HappyLand-Royal-Baby-Set/137328,default,pd.html
We got Colby this talking woody doll but it may be too boy-y?

My sister also got this post office but he needs lots of help to role play with it.

My friend also got him a dr kit similar to the one on the following link which both kids love. I often hear them playing with it taking it in turns to pretend to be sick. Sometimes one if them is the nurse and I'm the patient.  http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3844328.htm
Does Audrey like dressing up clothes?

We don't have any but I think we may get some playmobil for Christmas.

She's getting so big! I would go for the playmobil too Anna. DD is almost the same age and my aunt just passed down a fisher price "my first dollhouse" which she really enjoys too..might be something to consider if Audrey is really into dolls.

Would she like a kettle and toaster set? We got this one from Argos for DS's birthday 2 weeks ago and it has been a surprise hit  ;D

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/TOY+KETTLE.htm

We got it in the special offer (2 toys for £15)

Oh and he also loves wooden cutting fruit  :) After he cuts each piece he likes to stick them back together mixed up to make a 'banorange' or a 'lemato'  ;D Hours of fun, and several sets are available - we got ours from Sainsburys.

Leorah loved Little People so much from a round 2 and still has the odd one around that gets played with along with her LPS, Sylvanian Families etc. We used to set her up a town with a circus, zoo, garage etc and she would play alone for ages and it wasn't long before she would set up similar play for herself. Has she got a tea set? That also got played with a lot and she has a more sophisticated one now but still has parties for all her teddies  :)

Does Audrey like puzzles? Colby is just getting into them recently.
I love this one and both my boys enjoy it. We have the train too.

Colby loves this normal Tree Fu Toom one too http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ravensburger-Giant-Floor-Puzzle-Pieces/dp/B00AQHP37C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1379767683&sr=8-2&keywords=tree+fu+tom+jigsaw

Btw, Smyths have a 20% off everything event this weekend. That's online and in store.
