2.5 old not eating
« on: September 23, 2013, 18:14:11 pm »
Hi all

My nearly 2.5 month old is hardly eating anything and I'm at a loss as to what to do to encourage her.

She's not been eating for about 3 weeks now, will pick but hardly eat anything.
For example, today she has eaten
cereal this morning - half a small packet of cornflakes
Lunch, 3 small bites of a wholemeal roll for lunch
and no dinner
She has a beaker of milk for breakfast and bed

It doesn't seem to matter what we offer for her she acts like we are trying to poison her, recoils shouting no and getting very upset

She has all her teeth.

few big changes in her life, a new little sister and the start of pre school 2 afternoons a week

We've tried picnic style lunch/breakfast, picking what she'd like for dinner, nothing seems to be working

Any ideas greatly welcomed

Thanks xx

Hi honey- Have you been to the doctor yet about it? My friend had a little guy who was eating next to nothing and ended up being diagnosed with coeliac disease... all of the fighting was down to pain and feeling unwell. It might not be medical at all- but you are best to rule that out rather than spending lot of energy and effort to try and fix something that has a medical base....

Hi,

thanks for your reply  :)

I don't think there is anything medically wrong with her but we've her 2.5 check next week so will talk with the health visitor

She has improved slightly in the fact she'll eat something.

She is extremely fussy and refuses to eat anything that she doesn't want which is most things, she won't touch veg, pasta potato's, unless it's chips or potato waffles.
I've made her fruit smoothies which at least for the moment she's drinking as she thinks it's milkshake.
I know I shouldn't trick her but am desperate to get some good stuff into her.

Nah- tricking is fine- I know a blogger that calls them 'insurance veggies' so you wouldn't want to ONLY offer those- but toddlers can be VERY touchy with food!

Have you tried offering a few different things at meals so that she can have a sample of a few things?
