**** Which baby whisperer book to I read first???****
« on: September 24, 2013, 06:44:07 am »
Hi All,
Can someone please confirm which baby whisperer book do I read first?
I have a 3 month old and want to implemt a routine and teach self settling techniques.
I have received some contradicting info from friends and I am not sure.
Also, does the baby whisperer technique use controlled crying?
Any help would be really appreciated, I'm lost.
Thanks so much  :)

Hi there,

I'd suggest you start with "the secrets of the baby whisperer" as it's the one that sets out all the foundations of the BW approach and is a great starting point.

No, BW does not use CC. It uses gentler techniques (depending on age) that don't harm the bond and trust between parent and LO, and are more effective in the long run.

This FAQ explains the BW approach to sleep training and links to some other useful FAQs:

Sleep Training  - the early days

This is also really helpful re starting an "EASY" routine

Hi Cathn,
Thanks so much for your reply.
Is that the 'Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby'?
Published   :  02 September 2006
The one with lady holding baby on front cover?
Great, I tried the CC and it was so wrong and not for bubs or me!

Yep, That's the book :)

There's just a picture of a baby on the front of mine but it might depend which country/edition you have.

I can't thank you enough :)
Hate getting told things that leave me more confused than before I am told!
