2 Years old Sleep Issue - Thinks its a game..
« on: September 27, 2013, 17:03:43 pm »
Hi there - I'm desperately looking for some assistance. My DS is 2 years old and a month ago started having big sleep issues. DS learnt how to jump out of his crib so we converted the crib into a bed with safety rail.  We start putting him to bed around 8:00PM, he has his milk, i read to him, say "night-night" to everything around us and I leave the room. He now gets up as soon as i am out the door (sometimes not even waiting until then) and I do the entire WI/WO routine with him. It takes me anywhere between 1 hour - 1.5 hours to get him to sleep. I even got a Gro-Clock but he just plays with it. He's a 'textbook/spirited' toddler. I'm at my wits end and can feel myself loosing control. He thinks its all a game and is smiling/doing flips in bed. Please help - I feel like just having a cry session....

hiya love!
Can you post your routine? Wake up/Nap and bed times?
It will help some of the more veteran BW help with sorting this out for you!

Hugs!

Hi Mattsmummy,

His schedule is as follows:

5:30-6:00AM - Wake up & have milk
7:45AM - Breakfast (usually at daycare)
12:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:00PM - Nap time
5:30PM - Back home, play, watch curious George
7:00PM - Dinner and then play time
7:30PM - bath time
7:45 - 8:00PM - Bed time ritual starts (milk, reading stories)

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Esther

No suggestions here, but interested in responses since we are in the middle of the same exact problem, the only difference being our DS is still in the crib so he just stands up and wails and calls for Mommy until I come in. This happens several times a night, and sometimes I say something that works, other nights it doesn't work at all. *hug*!!

Hey there,
So, is your DS closer to 2 or 3... you mention he is 2.

Right now he is working on a 14+ hour day with a 2 hour nap...Might be a tad long and he may be OT. How has he reacted to being OT in the past?  Is he teething at all? 2 year molars?

Hoping some other veteran eyes can have a look for you...

My DS will be 2 in two weeks - but he's way ahead on his terrible two behavior..When he is OT he tends to get really cranky and irritable. He has most of his teeth and was teething a month ago but has stopped drooling for the last two weeks.
