Please please help!
« on: October 04, 2013, 02:01:29 am »
I am so upset over my little boys night waking. He is waking in the night and is hysterical when I leave the room. I have sat in his room for upto 3 hours until he goes off to sleep and I am exhausted. I have managed to get bed time sorted. I can now put him down awake and can leave the room but in the middle if the night he literally wants me to sit with him until he is fast asleep.

He is not in any pain- as long as he can see me he is fine. What do I do? I don't want my little boy crying but I cannot give him 3 hours every night to settle- I am literally exhausted and anxious for bed!

His routine is:

6am wake
11-1 nap
6.30-7.30 bed

The routine looks ok I think. Could he be teething?

How long has he been an independent sleeper? What methods have you used before to sleep train? It might be worth trying the same again if you're sure he's ok. X

Yes I think he possibly could. I'm medicating but doesn't seem to be making any difference. He is an absolute gem during the day (previously been v clingy but have managed to stop this somewhat). Should I just stay with him in the night no matter how long it takes or will this create bad habits?

I don't know sweetie, it could make it worse, but it might not. Can you answer my earlier queries and then it might be easier for me to answer your questions xxx

Sorry I forgot to respond to your other questions.... He has independently slept on and off maybe for a few months. We are only recently in last few weeks getting back on track after a holiday abroad where he slept in room with us and was rocked to sleep. I have just tried to progressively move further away from his cot at night and it worked as he started sleeping through again until last week when this started.
