Is my 2 yo dropping her nap?
« on: October 07, 2013, 20:22:03 pm »
My LO has been taking longer and longer to settle for naps and when she does have a nap takes longer to settle at BT. She is 2 years and 1 month old.

For the past week, she has been refusing to nap in her cot. The downside of this is that if we are out and about in the afternoon, she then drops off in the pushchair at the wrong time. Today she fell asleep at 3 and I woke her at 3.45pm. Tonight though, she was asleep by 8.15pm but she did have a late night last night (family meal) so she was tired anyway.

I am tempted to go with the flow and see how she is. Our EASY has been the same for a long time:

Wake: 6.45
Nap: 1.15 - 2.45
BT: 8pm

Do toddlers of this age need a longer A time?

I'm not sure about the A time because my daughter is the same age and has a bit less (even with a recent increase), but she is HSN.  She has been doing the same thing recently though.  I had a post about it, and there are lots of mamas of 2yr olds in the same situation.  I moved the nap to 1:30 (from 1:00) and kept offering it.  Some days she skipped it, some days she took a loooong time to go to sleep and some days she took a good nap, and now she's back to doing 2hrs.  Seems like a developmental thing that a lot of them go through.

I'm in the same situation here. 2 years and 1 month refusing to nap in her cot and then falling asleep in the car if we go anywhere in the afternoon.
I've read the other posts and agree with Emami that is seems lots of other 2 year olds are doing the same thing. I really hope it is a phase and we can go back to having naps soon. We're definitely not ready to give them up yet as she's obviously tired but just not willing to give up and go to sleep.

This HAS to be a phase! My 25 month old is refusing his nap today for the first time ever!!! I'm freaking out! It's a mix of "mommy mommy," bouncing up and down, etc. it's niw 1:45 and he's still up? Calling for me more forcefully now!
What to do? Later nap time I suppose. We're at 1:00 pm now. Time for 1:30? But his night was shorter last night too!
