Meal Scheduling help!
« on: October 11, 2013, 00:05:30 am »
Hi all
So LO is TG on a great routine.  Hes been waking up approx 8ish, has breakfast like 8:30. I send a big snack/lunch (sandwich, fruit) with him to playgroup that he eats at about 11/11:30. He comes home and naps from approx 12-2:30 or 3. I find myself giving a second lunch after nap, but not sure if thats necessary?? He has supper about 530. Would a snack after nap be good? When do you serve lunch when LO naps riht midday? TIA!

We used to do lunch at 11/1130 ( in fact we often still do as they seem to be hungry by then ) and then some sort of snack when they wake to keep them going until teatime. I think toddlers and little kids work best on 4 meals a day anyway, just a theory but it certainly holds true in our house!

Mine was very similar. A very large snack/lunch at around 11/11.30 (but often we were at a mum and baby/toddler group where they had snack at 10.45 so he'd have it then instead, the other kids seemed fine on a tiny bit of fruit snack whilst mine munched down an entire meal).  After nap, again similar mine had another big meal which I made my big cooked meal of the day, slightly odd time for me but I could cook whilst he napped and he ate really well at that time. However over time he seemed less hungry then so yes, just like you are asking, it turned into a snack and our dinner moved later.  I basically followed the times when he had his best appetite for a big meal, when dinner (main meal) was early he had a supper about a 1.5 hr before BT, when dinner moved later his supper came almost immediately after (but he still ate it even just 30 min after a big meal!) and now he's dropped supper as he has EBT.
I think if you feel a snack is now adequate then it probably is.  a lot of people do split lunches though so you are not alone in that.
