what's my best plan of attack? ::)
my milk is in.DD is 6days old.&my R breast is v hard,lumpy&
sore.
i had OS last time too.
i've been putting heat pads &massaging it when she
feeds.but OUCH!it hurts!

Have you had someone check her latch on that side?  Just wondering if she's not emptying the breast as effectively?  Are you otherwise feeling ok, no fever/flu symptoms that could indicate mastitis? 

If this happened with DD I used to express off a small amount just to feel more comfortable, say 50mls or so, and I used to put her on the more engorged side first to feed.  Obviously long term that's not ideal as it will just stimulate more milk ::) but I found keeping the breast drained was the best way of getting through the 'ouchy' bit.  (((Hugs))) lovely, I remember that feeling and boy, it is painful!

^^ that.  If it's been a bit engorged when she's tried to feed it could be that she then hasn't had a very good latch due to the engorgement.  Sometimes just taking a bit of the hardness away so they can get on helps.

Warm compresses before, as you're doing, with some massage to get things moving will help.  If it's sore, some cold compresses afterwards will help too.

Have you tried feeding in a different position on that side?  Rugby ball, perhaps, so it's a similar position as on the left which she's emptying better.

yes,i had the LC come to the house.she was happy with
the latch&reckoned the sore nipple was damage done during
the night i stayed in hosp.i was under pressure to top-up,so
i just let her suck any-ole way!i didnt care once she
stayed sucking!
i hand-expressed there while she slept.it def helped.
im feeding from the R now.i have been doing single-side
feeding for the most part,so if i wake up sore on the R,
would you do that next feed from the R again?

re positions-im useless!i only ever did the 1 with DD#1!

Are you offering the second side each time or just sticking with the one on purpose?

Wonder why she said not to....hmmm...is she thinking a big oversupply or something?  The more stimulation you get now, the better for the future.  Is she seeming satisfied after one?

i didn't ask her-just kind of went with it!
yes,in general,1side seems to do thd job.
i had major OS last time&seem similar this time.
engorgement is much improved today-phew!

I had this when my milk came in with L too.

What I found really helpful was cycling my arm like a windmill (or put hand on shoulder and draw big circles with your elbow).  I had to do it for a good few minutes but it really helped.
