Can long AM/short PM naps work?
« on: November 12, 2013, 22:41:42 pm »
Hi ladies!! So, LO is 10 months already :o but im facing a bit of a dilema!
In feb she will start nursery, she will be 13 months when she starts, it will only be for a few hours a day but it will be in the afternoon so i would really like to have her longer nap here at home and then she can have her shorter nap there ( hoping that she will nap!!) im just a bit worried as everything im reading is more along the lines of shortAM long PM which is worrying me slighty!! :-\ i would like to make sure im on the right track now so its not a big change for DD.so any tips, advice, tweaks and success stories are very welcome! This is our EASY at the mo

WU 06:30/06:45
Breast 7h
Solids 8h
Sleep 10h/10:15

WU 11h30/11h45 ( shes pretty consistent with 1hr30 nap, sometimes its 10 mins shorter sometimes 10 mins longer but more times its short than long)
Breast on WU ( thinking i should move this before the nap to bring lunchtime forward a bit??)
Lunch 13h (ish)
Sleep 15h15/15h30 if shes has a good AM nap then she usually wakes at about 16h15 if not then i have to wake her at 16h30 which is the latest i can let her sleep or shes not ready for bed.
Breast on WU
Dinner 17h30
Bath etc
Breast 19h/19h15
Aim to be asleep 19h30

I know that her A times will get longer. When do you drop to one nap?
I hope all that makes sense! Thanks ladies x

Bumping this for you hun.... we didn't do longer am/shorter pm nap but I know other mums who did. If her morning nap is the more reliable one and you can AP the afternoon nap, it should work well.

Some LOs are ready for 1 nap as early as 11months. We started the transition early but weren't on 1 solid nap until much later (15/16months for dd1 and 18months for dd2).

Hopefully other will chime in on what has worked for them with the long am/short pm arrangement :-*

We did a long morning nap with dd1, she always slept better in the morning so it just kind of happened. I never capped her morning nap and eventually it became the only nap.
