chronic 30 min napper down to 1 nap but still short nap!
« on: November 22, 2013, 10:14:05 am »
my chronic 30 min nap has been on 1 nap for about a month, the first week and half she naped 1hr30min, then 1hr15 for andnow the past 2 weeks we are back to 40 min nap! i have been waiting 11.5 months for this moment to finally get 1 long nap but she still wont do it!
right now she wakes at 6:15 and i give her a nap at 11. i guess every 2 weeks i need to increase her A time- seems ridiculous since she is only 11.5 months old

Hi can you post your EAS for us. For my LO anything under 1.5 hours on 1 nap is OT!

I am with Zoe and when i put dd2 on 1 nap around that age, we first had an awesome 2hr nap and then it was 1.5 and the following day it was just 45mins. Our nights started to get affected and she was getting overtired and she had to go back on 2 naps (mind you they weren't always one short/one long...sometimes they were both short but that was still better than one short nap in a day, iykwim). Some babies aren't ready for 1 nap at that age :-\

so we had to compensate with a second naps on those days, but it definitely was affecting her night time sleep, up for hours in the middle of the night. she really cannot have 2 naps and fights her second nap no matter the time, so she needs 1 nap, i just need to figure out if i am putting her to sleep to early or too late ?

Have you tried offering her a catnap in the morning (say around 10ish) and limiting it to maybe 20mins and then offering her an afternoon nap?

If you think she needs longer A then you can try adding more A to see if she will sleep longer. When we went down to 1 nap, we started with a nap around 11am too (with 6am wake up) and slowly pushed it to 12pm but my LO was 15/16months.

I probably wouldn't do a nap earlier than 11am as you will end up with too much A before bedtime.
