For those of you who dropped to 1 nap early...
« on: January 07, 2014, 08:41:29 am »
I just want to see if there is a correlation between LO's going through the 3-2 early to going through the 2-1 early.

So in our case, dd3 went to 2 naps at around 5months, which was early for us compared to dd1 and dd2, who held onto the 3rd nap until 9mo and 8mo, respectively and didn't go down to 1 nap until they were 16 months and 18months, respectively.

Both my boys were on 2 solid naps and done with 3-2 by 6 mths and on one solid nap through the 2-1 by 11-12 mths. So yeah I guess so ;) strangely enough though Z held onto his nap till just recently. We are 90% through the 1-0 I'd say

Done with 3-2 by 6 months and 2-1 by 12-13 months.  Getting occasional nap refusals now but think that's more down to timing than actually 1-0 starting.  That said, J does tend to prefer a longer night and shorter nap so may be we drop the final one sooner rather than later......we'll see!

We were properly through the 3-2 by 6 months too and are currently most of the way through the 2-1 I think. I'll be very surprised if we're still doing 2 naps in a month's time except for illness.  Lily dropped to 2 naps at a similar age I think and was on one nap at 13 months.

Ahhh, so there may be something to it after all ;D. Jenny is starting family day care in 4 weeks (she'll be 10mo) and although the short am/longer pm is working ok at the moment, I am not sure the carer will be doing all that (watching the clock, waking her up, etc...) and so I am tempted to tell her to keep her up and let her have just 1 nap on those days (3 days per week) :P. I'll see how things go but I wonder if J will be ok to do 3 days on 1 nap and I'll let her have 2 naps when at home?

ETA - Aishi, FYI, we also had some sleep troubles at that age with dd1 and then I realised just how much she needed her nap and we kept it going until she was close to 3!

Jack quite easily handles 2 or 3 x 1 nap days now if that helps? Don't know if nursery would tire him out more though. 2 x shorter naps might be better?

I'm not sure what we're going to do at nursery either cos he'll probably have just dropped to one nap but it's highly unlikely he'll sleep for long there and they're not going to spend ages getting him off to sleep or resettling him either.  Not looking forward to that tbh!

I reckon there's a correlation- Hamish was similar- on the early side with all of the transitions...
