Activity Time Difficulties
« on: January 08, 2014, 05:26:00 am »
I would appreciate any insights into our situation. My DD is 7 months old.  In early December her activity time was 2 hours 45 minutes and we were getting 45 minute naps and the odd 1.5 hour nap so I increased her activity time to 3 hours.  She then got a cold and her first tooth just popped through her gums.  Since these two events the 3 hour activity time has given us 35 minute naps.  I am able to resettle her by holding her until she is drowsy again and then laying her in her crib.  I have held her activity time at 3 hours for 2 weeks and she just doesnt seem to be adjusting.

She also wakes 35 to 40 minutes after bedtime every night.  This is a long standing problem that I cant seem to resolve.

Here is our typical EASY

E 7:30 - breast feed
A 8:00
E 9:00 - solids
A 9:15
S 10:30

E 12:30 - breast feed
A 12:45
E 1:45 - solids
A 2:00
S 3:30

E 5:00 - breast feed
A 5:15
E 6:15 - solids
A 6:30
E 7:15 - breast feed
S 8:00

I breast feed her once or twice at night, not before 1:00am, and a minimum of 4 hours apart.

Thanks in advance!

So she woke up at 11:15 and her next nap was at 15:30? That's a very long A time.
If you think she is OT then I would give shorter A times a try. If you get Ut naps again then you can gradually increase A times again. I would also keep the last A time shorter than what it is now on days she is not taking full naps.

Sorry I might not have been clear. I resettle her after 35 minutes. She then sleeps for another 1.5 hours or so in the morning for a total of 2 hours and another 45 to 60 minutes in the afternoon for a total of 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Ok, so I would still give a shorter A time in the morning a try and if it does work well for you and you don't need to resettle her anymore then I would start and gradually increase A times again.

Quick question...should I drop activity time each day until I get a full nap or drop and hold it for a couple days before adjusting again?

You could do that or you can go back to an A time that worked in the past and gradually increase from there.
