Hi there, I have a 7 1/2 month old DD. After months of struggle, we finally can say we have a good nighttime sleeper. (Still working to master days). She sleeps 11-12 hours at night time, usually 11.5hrs. She goes to bed at 6pm and wakes at 5:20am. I have tried putting her to bed at 6:30 which causes a wake up of 4am and lots of tears. I would love to get a bit of a later bedtime (6:30) and would love it to result in a 6am wake up. We have come to accept the 5:20 start but would like to start later if possible. Any suggestions on how to do this? A typical day looks like this:
5:20 - wake up, breastfeed
6:30 - breakfast
7:30 - Nap #1 (1-1.5hrs)
9:00 - breastfeed
10:00 - snack
11:30 - Nap #2 (1.5hrs on a good day, we have had a few 30min naps here though!)
1:00 - breastfeed
2:00 - snack/lunch
3:30 - attempt a 3rd nap but this nap doesn't always happen. We think we are in the process of dropping this nap. I won't let her sleep past 4-4:30. If nap doesn't happen, her bedtime is bumped earlier a little.
4:30 - breastfeed
5:00 - Dinner
5:30 - bath, breastfeed, story time, bed
6:00 - Asleep
Wow, actually as I type it out like that I realize we have a much more predictable day schedule than I thought. Just some days are re-arranged due to the odd 30minute nap.
I would like to shift bedtime later by 1/2 hr in hopes of moving wakeup later 1/2hr. I also don't like that when 3rd nap doesn't happen, she is asleep by 5:30. It seems crazy! And husband doesn't get much time with her as a result.
