Hi ladies,
It's ironic that every post I've every done on here has been me in a panic about bad naps and now that my LO has finally sorted his naps, he's cutting his night sleep!
He's always been a 12hour night sleeper until the past month or so. I also think he's LSN - took me a while to figure that out. He's always been totally happy and alert on about 30 minutes to 1 hour less sleep than the 'average' baby. He's been waking happy from most every nap and wakes happy as he can be in the morning. I've pushed his BT out to 7:30 so that I can get him to at least 6am, sometimes 6:30am. He's always been great at going right to sleep for naps and BT but lately, he's been fighting BT (talking to himself in his cot) and occasionally fighting naps (sometimes he's tired and I think it's teething pain and other times I may be putting him down UT). Occasionally he wakes at the 30min mark into his nap (OT) but settles with my hand on him and in that case, will sleep an hour more. He doesn't wake at night unless from teething pain, in which case he goes right back to sleep after getting some pain meds.
Our routine is something like this:
WU: 6am
E: 6am (breast)
E: 7:30am (solids)
A: 3hrs 15min total
S: 9:15 (he'll sleep an hour to 1hr 20min bc his sleep cycle is 40 minutes)
E: 11am (breast)
E: 12:30 (solids)
A: 3hrs 30min total
S: around 2:30 and he'll nap for 1hr to 1hr 30min. Occasionally I have to wake him around 4:15.
E: 4pm (breast)
E: 5:30pm (solids)
E: 7pm (breast)
BT: 7:30
So total, he's getting 2hrs to 3hrs naps during the day. I'd save average he'll sleep 2hrs 30min a day. And again, he's always been a 12hr night sleeper. So should I be cutting his first nap to 40min? Or maybe delaying it? Should I look to get his total day sleep down to 2hrs? Or should I just continue putting him to bed around 7:30 and accept a 6am WU / 10 1/2 hr total sleep?
Thanks in advance for the help!
