It is a crapshoot here a lot! E did 3.5 h morning A and a 2.5 h nap which left me scratching my head as to how I would fit in a second one...so glad I can still apop her to sleep. I think if you want to go set naps by the clock it could take a bit for him to settle in to it and will probably be some (a lot?!) of OT to push through. Easier with an angel/textbook type but mine were spirited/textbook and touchy/spirited (jury still out on DD3 - seems to be angel/textbook/spirited!) and they did fine with OT...maybe a wee bit hyper but nothing too horrid.

He's been going to bed same time but waking earlier in morning. Why does this happen? If he wakes from his second nap Around 3 I can't put him to bed much later than 630-7. But he's also waking earlier Arouvd 615 opposed to his usual 7.

If he is waking up happy and ready to go I would think to look at his day sleep....we have had another leap in A time (first morning A seems to need to be longest) and are doing about 11.5 h nights at best. What does his day look like now?

His naps change every day but on average :
645 wake
10/10:10 nap ( min 3 hr 15-20 min A)
Tiday his nap was 1 hr 45 min it's usually an hour or an hour ten min
The second nap is normally 30 mins so today let's say he might go down for second nap at 3 ( 3 hr 15 min A time) if he can handle and he probably will be up by 3:30 ( which is better than when he takes a 30 min nap first thing and his second nap is over by 2-230. I will probably feed him by 645 and right to bed.

Was he awake longer before his 1 hr 45 min nap today? When I get a really good nap from her I always look to that A time to see if it was longer or what was different (sometimes it seems she is bored but hard to get out and about in winter so now we try to play in different rooms, I take her in the shower with me and do a bit more stimulating things)

It's hard to say because he woke at 620 and fell back for a little and then up at 645 so I put him down at 10 3 hrs 15 min from wake but really it could've been 3 hrs 40 min lol
So how long A time should I give befire next nap? 3 hrs? 2 hrs 45? 3 hrs 15?

I'd try and push it longer after a good nap myself! Do you think his 30 min afternoon nap is ot or ut?

I'm not sure if his 30 min is ot or ut to be honest lol. I put him in crib awake at 250 he was asleep by 255 which is 3 hrs 10 min A time and he's awake at 330!

Just popping in to say that we were plagued by 37 minute undertired naps around this age, and often needed up to 3h30 A first thing to get a decent nap.  Don't be scared of the numbers!

Lol so if it up the first a time to 3 hr 30 min and I get a good nap do I then up the next a time to 3 hr 30 mins? I wonder if this might mess up bottle feedings? That's a long time for a 7 month old no? How will I occupy him for that long lol

Wait til they're on one nap!!!

3h30 is a long A for a seven month old but if it's what he needs, go with it.  We often had around 3h30 for first and second A with a longer morning nap and shorter afternoon one, then a bit shorter A time before bed.  Looking back it may have been because LO actually needed her pm nap earlier (ie shorter second A time), but it worked ok.  I guess if your LO is sleeping well at night and tends to wake from naps relatively happy, then the routine is fine.

With bottles, I would just stick with this pattern for the day:

WU & bottle
Breakfast
Nap 1
WU & bottle
Lunch
Nap 2
WU and bottle
Dinner
Bottle
Bedtime

And not worry too much about timings :). At some point in the next few months you'll drop to three bottles, probably losing one of the ones in the middle of the day.
