When did you LO stop having mil in the morning?
« on: February 03, 2014, 07:44:47 am »
My DD is nearly 31m and for the last 2 mornings has flatly refused her milk in the morning. The usual routine is to get up at 7am, milk in our bed with us and breakfast sometime between 8-9am depending on our plans for the morning.

She still drinking her milk before BT

Is this 'normal' at this age?

Hi, my ds is 3&5months and still has a cup of milk in the morning. Its just part of his routine but if he refused it i guess i wouldnt mind. Id just try & give him a cup in the day. He hasnt had the night time one since being dry through the night xx i think a lot of babies stop drinking milk a lot earlier (i may be wrong?)

I've experienced a couple of blips like that with DS refusing morning milk either because he wasn't hungry or because he was so hungry he wanted solids much earlier than usual. He's always gone back to his regular routine after a few days or a week though. He hasn't had a BT milk since 13 months so if he skips his morning milk I do look to give milk during the day if it goes on more than a couple of days.  I think once decent cup of milk plus dairy in meals is sufficient at this age.

Thanks I suspected that it'd be ok if she was getting enough dairy. I guess when she's PT (flatly refuses at the moment but that's a whole nother post!) I'll have to get her to drink the morning milk as I'll need to get rid of the BT milk.

Morning milk is also and has always been a part of our routine but she just ain't having it!!!

Thanks again for your replies  ;D

We swapped DD's morning milk when she was 13 months! She was refusing breakfast after a bottle so the bottle bacame a sippy of milk with toast as a mid-morning snack!

Neither of my boys were big on milk, so when they weaned off of formula or BF ( a little after a year) they had milk maybe once a week. Even now, they rarely drink milk.

Like PP, my LO1 rarely drinks cows' milk.  He stopped BFing at 15 mos and never really started drinking the other stuff.

No consistent morning or bedtime milk since just over a year of age - just never been interested since we stopped breastfeeding!

E is still going with a bottle of milk (formula) after bath but before teeth brushing in the evenings but just has a small cup of cows milk in the mornings now and has done for some months (I can't remember exactly when).

Two nights ago after a no nap day E fell asleep in the car and we couldn't wake her so put her straight to bed without mlk and she slept for 13 hours so I am feeling like we might get rid of this evening bottle soon.

I know all the recommendations say to get rid of formula earlier, and E certainly eats a good amount of dairy in her diet, but she was still on three bottles at 14 months and eating a full diet of solids and has weaned herself off the bottles much as you describe Ruby is doing at the moment. I think this is the right thing for E and I wouldn't worry if she cut the last feed but I'm not going to rush her either.

Aud has a cup of milk at breakfast if she asks for it, but tbh she rarely does. She does have a cup of milk at some point during the day though. Not at bedtime.
