2-1 nap transition
« on: February 05, 2014, 09:24:59 am »
Hi, my dd is 10 months old and we've currently been experiencing alot of nw (she has onlt slept through 3 times) and we've tried meds, water etc and nothing seems to be helping so i was thinking of slowly reducing her daytime sleep incase its too much. Not going down to one nap yet but doing it slowly.  She always sleeps better for her first nap so i was thinking of keeping that one but trying to make it later each time and reducing the afternoon nap.  Will this work? I only ever see sample schedules for a short morning nap and long afternoon nap but i know all babies are different.  Has anyone done is this way round? Thanks.

Naps are generally: 9-9.30 for 1.5hrs
                                   1.30-2.00 for 1-1.15hrs

Her bedtime was 6.30 but edging it to 7pm.

I did long am short pm with both my girls.  I just increased morning A to ensure one good nap, then cut pm nap in 15min increments.  So dd2 started with 1.5/2hr am nap and 45min pm nap, then went down to 30min pm nap, then 15-20min pm nap :)

Thanks :-) I'll definately try it then. Today she only had an hour in the afternoon anyway so i might just keep it at an hour for a few days and see how she goes then decrease more.
