18 months and BT gone nuts
« on: February 11, 2014, 19:23:19 pm »
She was always gone down for naps and BT no problem. But the last week it has been crying all the way for up to an hour. I think her canines might be coming in but she seems to just need a cuddle as soon as she sees me leave her room it starts. She also seems more tired than usual but nothing else has changed.

I'm going to guess canines.  Aaron just spent the last 4 weeks slowly cutting his canines one by one.  He got one tooth per week and the 4th one finally cut through the gums 4 days ago and his sleep has settled again.  The canines by far threw his sleep off more than any teeth before so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's bothering Eva.  I could be wrong, but it certainly is a possibility.  I hope things aren't too rough for her though :-\.

Hugs, teeth at this age cause mayhem, plus it's 18 mth sleep regression time too... Does medicating 20 mins before BT help? - or moving BT 20-30 mins later

Hi, i have not tried moving BT later,we have actually done it 15 mins earlier a few days. Only because she has said she wanted bed and it has helped a bit. But some nights there is just no helping her, some days aswell. I think teeth are definitly to blame as she has practically stopped eating. Still none of the 4 cut through yet though from what i can see(when she will let me in).

I feel so sorry for her, and all i want to do is sleep. I would even have her cuddle up in bed with me for a while if it would help her sleep but she never has and when she comes into our room it is usually morning so she wont lie down, she'll just go back to her own room if she is trying to get back to sleep.

Oh bless, teething makes them a bit out of sorts. T gets like this too at BT, won't settle, then next night tired so down earlier. To some extent at this age you do have to be a bit flexible - not every day will be the same. My boys won't sleep in our bed either. They want to sleep on their own and can't so get so frustrated!

Def try medicating before BT if you feel she is unsettled early evening. 20-30 mins before will usually cover BT. I find even if t wakes it's taken the edge of f so he will settle a lot quicker with a bit of teething gel.

The worst thing with teeth around now is that the canines and 1 yr molars are all moving together. A mouthful of owch!

So sorry to hear things are still rough and you're so tired.  It will pass though!

For some reason for the past 2 weeks Aaron has taken 25-40 minutes to fall asleep at BT regardless how long his nap was or what time it ended or what time BT is.  I'd thought maybe he's UT but realized that wasn't the case because 9 times out of 10 I need to wake him up in the morning to stick with set WU time so he is tired.  So, I've come to the conclusion that I think it's a developmental thing where he's just processing so much during the day that no matter what the day looked like, by the end of it, he needs on average 30 minutes to process it all before he can fall asleep.  Each night, he'll just roll and reposition every few min and eventually fall asleep.  Perhaps Eva's BT issues are a mix of teeth and development?
