26 mo early waking

Hi

My DD has been on the following schedule:

8.00/8.30 - WU
2.00/2.30 - Sleep
3.30 - 4.30 - WU (1.5 or 2 hr naps)
9.30 - 10.30 - Sleep

However, recently she has been very inconsistent.  Sometimes she does 2hr nap with 8 - 9 hrs at night, some days 1 hr nap with 11hrs at night.

Sometimes she looks tired even after sleeping 11hrs at night.  I'm not sure whether the fact that the night before that she only did 8 - 8.5hrs  is a factor.  In any case, I have maintained 6hr A time for both scenarios.  In the second half of the day she can normally do between 6hr and 6hr 20 mins A time.

Yesterday DD refused to take a nap until 3.15 pm (she did 9 hr 15 mins overnight).  She slept for 2 hrs, looked very tired during dinner so BT was 9pm but she took 45 min to fall asleep.

Today:

7.00 - WU but I went to lie in bed with DD until 8.00.  She didn't sleep though
1.20 - Sleep
2.40 - Wake
9.00 - Sleep (looked tired around 7.30 but she said she didn't want to sleep yet.  She took 30 mins to fall asleep)

I'm now really confused as to:

1. Should I maintain the 6 hr A time even on days where DD has done only 8 - 8.5 hrs or even 9 hrs.  She seems tired but is able to last the full 6 hrs and take the usual 20 mins to fall asleep for her nap.

2. Should I maintain the 6 - 6 hr 20min A time when she has had short nap or should I do early BT?

3. Should I cap her nap?  If so, for how long?

4. How do I get DD's WU back to 8.00/8.30?

Hi,

I'm wondering whether the inconstancy of your LO's day is causing the issue. It may be worth looking at setting the nap to regulate your LO body clock. Also, IME a 2h nap is a tad long at this age. You may wish to consider capping at 1.5h. Have a look at this link and see what you think:
