Breastfeeding atnight
« on: February 20, 2014, 12:25:38 pm »
Hi, my son will be 12 weeks on Monday. He is only bf. He eats every 3 hrs for about 20 min, but at night he still wakes up a lot. I feed him about 7.pm, then he will wake up about 10.30 and then every 2.5 -3 hrs. He only sucks for about 10-15 min at night. Is it still ok for this age? How to encourage him to stay longer between feeds? I can't do dream feeds as he is not feeding then. Many thanks for any advice

Last night feeds 7 pm, 10,1,3,5.30
Is this normal for his age? How can I stretch time between feeding?

Sounds pretty normal....if you want him to take a fuller feed at night do you change his diaper first to rouse him fully? Or maybe change before switching sides (if doing two sided feeds). You could try and settle without feeding and see what happens (does he use a soother at all?).

Thanks :) seems like we have a night time routine, I feed him at 7, about 11, 2 and 7 in the morning.

Hi !!!! My little boy  is exactly like that and he just turned 12 weeks on Saturday!!! During the day he is feeding every 3 hours no problem there but at night he is exactly like your little boy !!! Just wanted to ask if  your still doing the feeding on both sides, do you think it increased your supply ??? I really want him to get some more sleep during the night, and I'm having a hard time figuring out if hunger is an issue   :-\
