Quick Q re OT EW
« on: February 24, 2014, 07:56:53 am »
Just quickie-my nearly 2yr old is a great sleeper but gets OT v easy which always gives us EW of 5am for a few nights... He's on 1-3 nap (capped) and 7 BT, I had been moving things forward on EW but it seemed to make EW earlier should I just try and stick to 1-3 nap 7 BT?

Thanks

Hi there,

My DD is susceptible  to OT as well.

With EW i tend to try and keep the nap the same and bring BT half an hour earlier. However if the long morning A is perpetuating the OT/ew then I'd pull the nap back to
12.30 and still cap at 2h and BT at 6.30pm until you are straight.

I have also been known to do this to get back on track:

WU: 5am
Car nap:9.30 (capped at 20m)
Nap:1-3pm
BT:6.30-7pm (depending on how tired R is)

This has always worked for us but Not all LOs respond well and can end up in a ut/OT loop - you just need to judge it really

Hth xx

Thanks for this. The nap time being earlier I think was making it worse as the earlier we got (12:15 nap) the earlier the EW! Also we had shorter naps under the 2 hrs-normally I wake at 2! !
So I put him down at 12:45 and he had a cry at 2:30 but went to sleep again so gonna wake him at now (3) and EBT and fingers crossed xxx

Good luck  ;D

Oh, don't forget at 2y there is a developmental leap (for us a speech explosion) which can lead to ew, short naps and sometimes just general sleep shenanigans.  Tbh, your day looks good. I'd stick with It in principle and tweak where you have to in order to manage the OT

Was much better! Went down at 6:30 woke 6:10. So now even if we do get a EW I'll adjust BT rather than nap time, seems odd the pm is so short, but hey if it works!! Thanks again! Xx
