17 mo A time question
« on: March 21, 2014, 08:07:00 am »
My LO has been on 1 nap for a month or two now and we're still struggling. We normally do a 5h A time in the morning but I'm confused on what to do when he's had a night waking and has slept in a bit, should it be shorter or the same?

TIA

we tended to stick to fairly set times at this age - do you want to post your routine so we can take a look?

This does vary but his routine is typically:

5:30WU
Nap 10:30-12:00 (varies, this is his average)
BT 6:00

He tends to do shorter nap following a night waking. Is this normal?

Thanks!

I agree with Becky, at this age we too were on set naps. I wonder if you are getting the EW because the nap is so early. At this age R was napping closer to 11.45-12noon (with a 7am WU and 7pm BT) So maybe in the first instance, deepening on how your LO handles OT, get the nap to 11am?

What do you think?

Yes at this age we had an 11am nap and we did BT at 6pm and then we slowly pushed it to more like 12pm x

How long after the transition did you go to set naps? That does sound like a good idea though I'd be a bit nervous since he's so sensitive to OT.

I haven't been too worried about the EWUs so far as I think the clocks changing on the 30th will change this.

With DD we did set naps pretty much from the start of one nap. We set for 11am, then 11.30am, then 12pm and onwards and now we are at 1.30pm for an hour x

Thank you both! I'll wait until the clocks change so he's waking at 6:30 rather than 5:30 then go to set naps.

We did too. The only difference was that we went up (and still do!) in 15m increments because R is susceptible to OT

Good luck  :)
