Starting EASY at 3 months
« on: June 14, 2014, 08:00:50 am »
Good morning, ladies!
My son is 3 month on the 10th of June and I am having some problems with his EASY.
Our day looks like this:
E 06:00
A 06:20
S 07:20 (he hates being swaddled, so I wrap him in a blanket, pat his bottom and give dummy. When he is almost sleeping I put him down in the crib)
E 8:00 (:( cant make him nap for longer then 40-45 minutes)
A 8:20
S 9:00
E 10:00
A 10:20
S 11:20
At this point I have lunch myself and get ready to go for a walk
E 12:00
A 12:20 - we go out in a park/shopping mall/beach
S 13:20 - I rock him in push chair to make sure he sleeps for 1.5 hour
E 15:00
A 15:20 - still out
S 16:20 - going home
E 17:20 - first cluster
A 17:40 - reading book, toys in high chair while I cook
Night routine 19:00 shower, massage
E 19:30 second cluster (eats almost for an hour!)
8:20 off to bed (he is hardly awake when I put him down)
DF 22:30 (bf, but plan to introduce bottle)
He doesn't normally wake up during the night

But it is extremely hard to put him down for naps, sometimes can take an hour and I am about to give up..seems like he is fighting the sleep

Hi there, this is a prime time for naps being short but they will get better. When he wakes up, is he happy or mad? I notice he has a long day, I would try to hold it at 12-12.5 hours. Most 3 month olds are doing around 1.5 hours A, if he does a nap of less than 1 hour, I would take about 20 minutes off the next A to try to keep OT away. What sort of swaddler is he using? Some LOs seem to hate swaddling but really need it and need the swaddle to be quite snug. I loved using the WOombie swaddler as it is inescapable! That is great that he is going through the night! Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for your reply!

When he wakes up he is still tired and that is my biggest concern. As he wakes up I feed him and he kind of dream feeding for 20 minutes (not sleeping completely but kind of)
I agree that his day is too long, but the time if night routine he is exhausted and hardly takes massage and bath
I think Lucas does need to be swaddled. I watched him yesterday as he wakes up - starts hitting his head with hands, I guess it hurts and he is awake. I use swaddler that is kind if free and screams as he can not lift his hands up (and that's his favorite sleep position)
I will try the one you recommend thanks a lot!

I also end up using breast to put him down for naps sometimes :(

Check this one out: http://www.woombie.com/wrap_and_snap.html

At this so very young age, I would do what you need to do to try to help him sleep, if that means feeding him and laying him back down, that is OK. There is nothing you can do now to help you get through that can't be worked out later. If you want to remove the breast prop we can totally help you with that too. Has he got white noise in his room? Have you done a sort of "pre wind down", maybe putting him in a carrier 20 minutes before his nap to sort of get him relaxed and in "the zone"? Things will get better, you are doing great!
