Next week we will go to the doctor again since it looks like her tongue snipping didnt do anything. After we checked it the doctor said it seemed to be a 'stubborn' tongue and we might need to do the procedure again.
I am trying not to use nipple shields at least 30 sec on each breast 'to remind the nipples and her mouth the normal way'. ( that's what the doctor told me to do. He states that the nipples shields' use reduce the amount if breast milk over time).
Anyways even for a couple of minutes without the shields I feel burning pain and the nipple is squeezed like a lipstick.
Also I try to feed her in an upright position to help her to be less gassy. ( LLC says the nipple shields create as much gas as the bottle ;().
In an upright position I often have pain when feeding even with the nipple shields on. ( mostly in the night when I try to at least close my eyes to get at least some sleep )
So, I will keep you updated.
Thanks !
Olha

Oh no, what rotten luck.
Hope it works this time.

He states that the nipples shields' use reduce the amount if breast milk over time

hmmm myself plus 2 others I personally know used nipple shields and found no decrease in milk. My friend is still BFing her 1.5yo and I got to 1yo with them on.
I wouldn't worry about that too much

Yeap. Not fun on her tongue. Hopefully it will be better soon.
Thank you! Good to know about not reduced milk supply. I was worried a little. Doctors can scare us big time ;)

If you are using the modern, thin silicone nipple shields then their effect on milk supply is significantly less than that of the more old-fashioned rubber or latex shields which reduced milk transfer. If placed properly the silicone ones are very efficient. http://www.llli.org/llleaderweb/lv/lvjunjul00p39.html

Along with offering the breast without a shield at the start of each feed it is important to continue looking into the reason behind the pain. There is some helpful info here too http://www.llli.org/llleaderweb/lv/lvfebmar00p10.html

Thanks Ali. Interesting information. Probably the doctor thought I am using an old version of nipple shields.  Still need practice with the. because sometimes with different positions the nipples hurt also.
Pretty sure at this point the problem is her tongue tie and maybe my too sensitive nipples. ( but I can know that only when she will latch properly I guess. )
Anyways I am waiting until the next appointment about her tongue and will be 'moving' from there.
Thanks for support!
