Feeding twins at the same time - help!
« on: August 30, 2014, 19:14:02 pm »
The babies are a month old now (and doing wonderfully!) but I am now alone with them.. I have had family here until now so feeds were easy - one person per baby!  They do get hungry at the same time and I would love to keep them feeding at the same time as they still take 30-40 mins to finish their feeds with intermittent burping in there.  Both have very mild reflux related specifically to being 5 weeks premature.  So long as burping is done with a rub and not a pat and we keep them upright after a feed, they are fine :)

Anyone have any tricks to feeding both at the same time?  I have tried bouncy seats - seems to be too upright and their little heads will fall forwards a bit... I do like to feed them at a bit of an incline because of the reflux...

I have no personal experience of course but how about investing in one of these? http://www.having-twins.com/the-twin-z-pillow-for-bottle-feeding-or-breastfeeding.html

I au paired for twins in the dim and distant past, so I was that extra pair of hands!  We also did a lot of one person feeds as there was a toddler to care for as well.  Most of the time we used to feed them in their car seats.  Would that work?

I did mine in bouncy chairs and car seats. U could prop the bouncy chair up a bit so they're heads don't fall. My bouncy chairs were quite reclined already though. I'd sit on the floor with my back against the sofa (tv on!) then they were facing me. Hope that is of some help! Otherwise try propping on cushions on the floor. Pm me if you have any other questions! Happy to help.
