sleep for 13 month old
« on: September 17, 2014, 15:38:32 pm »
Hi everyone:)

My son is 13 months and is still on 2 naps and has had the same routine for months now. I was wondering what time other moms babies under 15 months are taking their naps. Ive check the sample routine links but i cant find anything comparable. Right now hes napping 1030-12 and 330-430 and bed 745.

I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSES :) I KNOW WE ARE ALL BUSY!

What's his easy like? When does he wake and go to sleep? My Gabe :) is usually up around 7-730 then he has lunch at 12 and goes down for nap from 1230-2 ish this sometimes is only an hour nap or can be 2 hrs. But he's usually up around 2-230 and then in bed around 730. I just pushed the nap forward a little bit over time to see what he could handle but he was never a good napper when he took two anyways.

awake 12-330
sleep 330-430
awake 430-745 bed

hes been doing this for months.

I say why mess with it if he's doing well. Once he starts refusing one of the naps then I would reconsider ;)

yeah I agree. In my experience baby wil tel you when they're ready to transition by refusing one of the naps. My high sleep little girl transitioned at 14 months much to my surprise. But at 21 months she still sleeps more than previous poster's 14 month old! She naps 1-4 on average. Often longer! Just go with your baby.

My Gabriel is 2.5 so not much help with the nap question but couldn't resist popping on to say what a beautiful name your boys have ;-) ! If I remember right though he transitioned to one nap at 12 months. I agree with others though, if it ain't broke don't try and fix it! If you start to get any of the things in the link below then transitioning to one nap might be worth considering.

From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)

she started refusing her second nap even thought she was exhausted. Bu first i didn't accept she was transitioning from 2-1 and i made her first nap even earlier in the hope she would be more tired for the second. But when that didn't work either and some days she was awake for the day from 10.30 i had to accept she was on one nap so i had to slowly push it to the middle of the day. So you will know when he's ready and if he's happy on 2 naps then leave him to it

sunflower, so im assuming you did it in small increments? What happened to the second nap until you finally got to one?

There was no second nap. She just wouldn't take it so yeah I pushed through the morning as best I could. I had to get out of the house and keep her busy. We were on an 11 am nap for quite a while as she couldn't last any longer and an early BT. But as she got older she got more stamina. I looked for advice here and the advice I was given was to cut the first nap to 20/30 minutes and then she should still have taken second nap. I think that would have been a good way to transition but I've never been able to bring myself to wake her from nap when she's so sound asleep so  I couldn't do it. But like I said if your little boy isn't ready yet don't push him. My friend's little boy did 2-1 transition at 18 months.
