Asleep by end of 2 hour awake window or start nap then?
« on: September 27, 2014, 19:13:06 pm »
Hi ladies!

Second post in 2 days this must be a record ;)

My 5 month old is overtired. It's obvious. So I'm trying to correct it because her previous habit of 30 minute catnaps have finally caught up to her.  So I've read that normal awake time is about 2 hours. Does that mean she's asleep at the end of the two hour mark or start to get her down at the end of two hour window?

Right now it takes me about 30 minutes to get her to nap since she fights it and I stopped nursing her for naps. Also, since she's so OT, she's really not making it the 2 hours. So my plan is closer to awake time for about and hour 15 minutes then start trying to get her down for nap and hold her for the nap so she sleeps longer than 30 minutes.  Then as she catches up on sleep and gets a routine, stretch out awake time and put her in crib for naps.

Does that sound like it will work?  Any experience with this?

Thank you!!

Vanessa, A times are counted from eyes open to eyes shut.  I think she's been taking 30 mins to get to sleep because she's been OT, so I wouldn't necessarily go too early on the wind-down, you might just annoy her ;)
