Won't nap...growth spurt? Developmental leap?
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:17:30 pm »
My DS was pretty good at going down for a nap if I caught his cues right.  Especially the first couple of naps of the day.  The last couple of days I have put him in the crib only for him to be rolling around being a goofball 20 minutes later....and still rubbing his eyes.

We had been using PU/PD which was great, he didn't need any pick ups for the first couple of naps at the least.  He doesn't cry....he just doesn't sleep....so I don't want to pick him up.

Could this be growth spurt related, he is also early teething.... He is 13 weeks old.   He is generally very happy though, I just hate it when he is overtired as it impacts the whole day and night.

For 13 weeks he's doing very well!  If he's not crying, I would just leave him alone.  If you have a video monitor, do not check it.  He's clearly not upset because he's not crying for your assistance.  As long as he's been fed, has on a clean diaper and is just lying in the crib doing his thing, let him.  If he cries, definitely go to him because he's asking for your help, otherwise try to just roll with it as he works out his sleep needs.

Could he need more awake time?  I aim for about 1hr 20-30...but this changes depending on his cues.  e.g. the first nap tends to be more like 1hr 10 after getting up.

Even though he is yawning, rubbing his eyes, getting cranky - should I delay putting him down?
