Toddler will only eat crisps
« on: October 06, 2014, 09:41:54 am »
My daughter turned 2 in August and only eats crisps and biscuits. She never weaned from, bottle to,solid food and has always been very specific about what food she will eat. Any hints or tips for introducing new foods into her diet.
Have tried not giving her the food she eats and only the food I've been advised to give her but she just gets herself,in such a mess crying. HV and dieticians say she will eat when she is hungry but she doesn't, believe me we have tried, several times, so any other advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Hey there,
Can I ask for some background Hun before giving any advice.

Did/does she suffer from any reflux medical conditions off had problems with feeding when a baby? Any problems with swallowing? Gag reflex or oversensitivities?

When she first went to try solids did she ever accept any other foods? Ie purées, or did you do blw and she only ever ate dry crackers/biscuits?

Can you post what she eats in a typical day including milk if any?

Hugs, my eldest is a selective eater, and we struggle with his diet so I know how tough it can be x

Try this thread, I think it has been really helpful for parents of children with very restricted diets:

The Division Of Responsibility trust model for selective eating child

I'd imagine that the bottle is compounding the issue. How much milk is she having at present?
How is her growth?

I'd think professional help would be recommended if she is extremely restricted, but certainly we can provide ideas and suggestions here.
