17 mo triplets short nap
« on: November 19, 2014, 18:52:28 pm »
Hi All- I've come here for support in the past and have gotten wonderful advice.  I've very grateful for the community!
My triplets are 17 months old (16 months adjusted) and we are on week 2 of our transition from 2 naps to 1.  Our typical schedule is as follows:

7a- wake and eat breakfast
9:30a- snack
11:30a- lunch
12p-1:30- nap
3:30p- snack
5:30p- dinner
7:30p- bed

They never nap longer than 1.5 hours and wake up crying and are grumpy for the rest of the afternoon.  I know they need more sleep, as they are clingy and whiny all day.  Does anybody see anything with our schedule that could use some tweaking?  I'm not sure what to do.  I make them stay in their cribs for 2 hours during nap time, hoping they will get the clue and eventually sleep longer.  Any advice to get a longer nap?
Thanks in advance!
Erin

We switched to 1 nap at 16 months with DS1 and he usually took it at 11:30 AM. Have you tried bringing it earlier? (our start and end time of the day was similar to yours)

I would bring bt earlier too, to 6.30 for a while until you start getting a better nap.  A 1h30 nap when first on one nap is usually overtiredness x

Thanks for the suggestions! I put them down early tonight, and will try an earlier nap tomorrow. Thank you again for the help, I'm so grateful for the insight!
