Ready Brek question
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:48:27 am »
Is it suitable for LOs who need to avoid milk?
The ingredients do not include milk but there is allergy advice on the box - is that because the guide is to make up with milk (which could be subbed for LO's formula or breast milk) or because of another reason?
Anyone know?

We have no problem giving ready brek to ds who is intolerant to milk - we make it up with coconut milk.  I would guess it is a question of how sensitive an intolerance it is - ds can have a small amount of things with butter in, for example, although he reacts to a anything else with milk in, so we have never felt the need to worry about food with trace amounts or possible cross-contamination.

My DS had a very bad reaction to Ready Brek.  The warning is because the factory is not sterile and there is a risk of cross contamination - they make products that do have milk/milk powder in them on the same equipment.  We were extremely cautious with everything with DS, above and beyond actually, and I actually chose to take the risk with the Ready Brek because I could not see any reason to avoid it based on the ingredients. But as we learned, the "may contain" products really can be risky.
