Little one distracted, only feeding 5 minutes. Developmental?
« on: January 24, 2015, 16:49:34 pm »
So lately my lo, who will be 15 weeks on Monday, is not eating well. He will eat 3-5 minutes max and then completely refuse any more. He just wants to look around and play. I've actually resorted lately to going in at the tail end of his nap and feeding him while he's drowsy/half sleeping, because that's the only way I can get him to take a full feed. He doesn't really act like he's starving or anything. He's confusing me! He is peeing and pooping just fine, but I don't want him to start waking at night to get calories. Have any of you experienced anything like that? Advice? He's been doing this for about a week to a week and a half. We are currently on a 3 hr schedule and he goes to bed at 8 and usually wakes to eat around 6, then back to bed until 8.

Yes.  In fact I knew your LO would be around 4mo before I even read that bit. It's the age of distraction. The only other thing I would suggest is something like a nursing necklace top entertain him.

I am going through a similar thing with my 13 week old.  Someone suggested to me to nurse in a dark room.  It works a little bit.  She went from eating just 5 minutes to 8 minutes but she just wont finish her eating and now takes short naps.  it's quite frustrating.
